My mom is disabled and takes care of a man who had a sever brain injury. she live in belen off of main st (by mc donald's)
Friday jan 20,he left the door open a little too long and my moms small pom dog "puff Daddy"
ran out the door my mom put her shoes on and went out after him,he was gone.
She looked for him until 2 in the morning with no luck. we have put up flyers,walked the neighborhood.
we are offering a cash reward or a different puppy(just incase it is someone that loves dog more then$$)
My mom was unable to keep up the hunt(due to her disabilities and the fact that her brother down in t or c had
a heart attack and had to have a trippel bypass this last thursday. So we were wondering if you could put the word out
that puff daddy needs to come home. he is about 3-4 lbs black and white has major low blood sugar issues. thank you karin

As I already told you, I have so many rescues in my home already, that I have to be realistic about the chances of my giving this girl what she truly needs - ALOT of love, patience and proper training that takes into consideration her special challenges. Her vision is compromised - as is her hearing. She may be able to hear certain pitches - but not very much - and her vision is not what it should be. She can definitely see - but her depth perception is off - and she really seems to be unable to see in the dark of night. I work at a veterinarian's office here in Clovis where the doctor has confirmed both these things. I did give her the first puppy booster and had her checked for worms - which was negative. She's about 8 wks old - happy, healthy in every other way - and a typical clumsy puppy. Her feet are HUGE and there's been suggestion that she "might" have Great Dane in there - although my vet thinks more Doberman.

So many dogs have come across my path over the years - but this one is truly special and I feel a huge sense of responsibility to make sure that she's safe and cared for in the way she deserves.

I am off from work all day today - and can be reached @ 575-693-1595 if you needed any more information. I would be more than happy to transport Hope to her new home, if I knew that she was going where she belonged. Thank you for listening and please let me know if there's anything you might be able to do to help me in finding Hope her forever home.

The picture you asked about looks like the view looking east from Los Alamos. The title seems to support this--Tsankawi is an annex of Bandelier National Monument on the other side of White Rock. Tsankawi is technically not in Los Alamos County, but just outside at the intersection of State Road 4 and E Jemez Road (the truck route to the Los Alamos). Come visit! It's a pretty gentle couple-mile loop around excavated and unexcavated pueblo ruins. Lots of pot shards and arrow heads--and great views, of course!

ALBUQUERQUE-January 4, 2012-In a tradition spanning over 30
years, Keep New Mexico Beautiful (KNMB), Inc., will again sponsor and
host a party for the state's birthday celebration on Friday, January 6,
at 11:00 a.m. in the rotunda of the State Capitol building in Santa Fe
as New Mexico marks its centennial year of statehood.
Master of Ceremonies for the occasion will be Steve
Stucker from KOB-TV Channel 4 with the help of "Dusty Roadrunner,"
KNMB's broom-pushing mascot and New Mexico's official state bird.
Participating in the celebration will be Richelle Ponder, president of
Keep New Mexico Beautiful, and Judi Pierson, executive director of the
organization, as well as KNMB board members. Also present will be Joe
Lobato, executive director of New Mexico Clean & Beautiful, the
governmental agency which oversees litter control and beautification.
Elementary school children from the Santa Fe area will also take
part in the event. The 1780's Color Guard will do the Presentation of
Colors and Governor Susanna Martinez is expected to give the keynote
address and statehood proclamation. Entertainment will be provided by
Mariachi Conquistador.
Founded in 1965, KNMB is the statewide clearinghouse for
beautification efforts through education assistance programs and
recognition. The non-profit organization supports and encourages
communities to improve their surroundings and promotes civic pride
statewide. The grants program supports environmental education projects
that enhance the public's awareness, knowledge and skills to make
informed environmental decisions and take responsible actions toward the
environment.

4 - 5' Snow Drifts

Hi Steve,

In the 10 years I have been on this mountain I have never seen it so bad. Yes, 4 - 5' snow drifts. Horse's barn water froozen. Must carry in a bucket. Couldn't get lower barn door open. Neighboor had to help me dig her out.

You were talking about Fed X having packages in the Walmart parking lot. Well we have had problems with UPS. Packages for me were here in Abq. on the 19th. Still no delivery, phone call, or nothing. Even offered to meet them somewhere.

I feel like I am in an igloo. Hope the decks hold up with almost 4' of snow. Rain gutters all ice jamed. 2' on roof.

Home 4 the Holidays Pet Adoptathon

We are doing Home for the Holidays this week-end. It is sponsored by Watermelon Mountain Ranch and so far we have 14 rescue groups from all over the state including The City of ABQ. It begins on Friday at 12 noon til 5 p.m. Saturday 10-5 p.m. and Sunday 10 till 4 p.m. It takes place in the Big Tent in the parking lot outside of Petsmart Coors. We will have a huge selection of dogs, puppies, kittens and cats. We are hoping to get everyone a home for the holidays. Things are really bad for rescues in the rurual areas of New Mexico so we are doing our Chuck Wagon Food Drive so we can share the food with everyone. We will have music, great food and Christmas Fun.

Whatever you can do will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Steve.

COMMENT: Hello Steve, my mother watches you every morning and I noticed your Chihuahua that you have on television with you sometimes. Well on 12/30/2011 my mom's Chihuahua Sammy got out of the gate. We have posted flyers, went door to door with flyers, checked the animal shelters, and put an add in the local paper and we have had no luck finding him. We know in our hearts he is out there and were hoping to get him home soon. He is more than just a dog he is a part of our family and my moms baby. It breaks my heart to see her open the door every morning calling out his name just hoping he will run inside.

Hi Steve,

We are having another dog adoption event this Sunday at Petsmart on I-40 at Eubank. The hours will be from 10:30am to 5:00pm. We have some very special dogs with us this time so some of the adoption fees have been reduced by half and a couple of the dogs will be free to the right home. We will also be throwing in some extras such as a free bag of dog food, collar and leash, or treats. We are trying to get some of these dogs that have been in the shelter too long a chance to spend the holidays with a great family.

If you could help us out by mentioning our event on your Friday morning show that would be great. If any of your co-workers are looking for a dog send them to us on Sunday. Thanks for all your help!

Paws & Stripes is a local Organization that adopts adult dogs from our New Mexico shelters and trains

these dogs with selected disabled Vets that have been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and

Traumatic Brain Injuries.

The Veteran and dog go through 6 months of intensive training. Once they finish, they both graduate

and the dog is then with that Veteran for the rest of it’s life. The dog helps the Veteran cope in every day situations and eventually helps the Veteran be a functional, productive member of society again.

To obtain such a dog, one would have to provide at least $10,000 to $30,000 or spend countless months seeking grant money to cover it. For a veteran to complete the Paws and Stripes™ program, the cost is a flat $2,000. Furthermore, Paws and Stripes™ covers this cost, and the veteran never pays a penny of it.

Paws & Stripes is exclusive to Military with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or Traumatic Brain Injury.

I can't believe the year is almost over. On Friday, December 9, Animal Welfare is hosting it's last pet adoption for the year. Please help me spread the news that we have wonderful pets that are waiting to find forever homes this holiday season.

The lights have been strung and the tree has been trimmed, all that is missing from the shelter is you. Come join the Home for the Holidays Pet Adoption event at the Eastside and Westside Animal Welfare shelters. Take advantage of the extended hours from 6 to 8 p.m to find that special pet.

During the evening, hot chocolate and sweets will be severed as the Enchantment Handbell Ensemble, Mass ApPeal Handbell Ensemble and the Eastern Hills Christian Academy Middle School Handbell Ensemble play Christmas cheer. Saint Nick will be there for all the good boys and girls who would like to take a photo with him.

Daniela is a child who has been through a lot, and having a loving, stable, and accepting home would be invaluable for her. Daniela sees herself as a protector and is known to stand up for those she views as not able to defend themselves, including some of her classmates. She can be shy and reserved at first, but once she is comfortable she really opens up. Daniela basks in the glow of affection and acceptance and takes great pride in making others happy.

In school, Daniela works best in a smaller classroom setting with more personal attention. She does well in school and enjoys the interaction and challenge, although she does not perform at grade level.

Daniela prefers water to soda, if you can believe that! She is not a picky eater and even enjoys her veggies, but also likes "meat and potatoes" and has a weakness for the occasional crisp pickle.

Daniela would do best in a family that would understand the challenges and blessings she would bring to them. She would do well with children older than she is, and who would be open to the new addition to their home.

When I was a young turkey, new to the coop,
My big brother Mike took me out on the stoop,

Then he sat me down, and he spoke real slow,
And he told me there was something that I had to know;

His look and his tone I will always remember,
When he told me of the horrors of ..... Black November;

"Come about August, now listen to me,
Each day you'll be thick, where once you were thin,
And you'll grow a big rubbery thing under your chin.

"And then one morning, when you're warm in your bed,
In'll burst the farmer's wife, and hack off your head;

"Then she'll pluck out all your feathers so you're bald'n pink,
And scoop out all your insides and leave ya lyin' in the sink,

"And then comes the worst part" he said not bluffing,
"She'll spread your cheeks and pack your rear with stuffing".

Well, the rest of his words were too grim to repeat,
I sat on the stoop like a winged piece of meat,

And decided on the spot that to avoid being cooked,
I'd have to lay low and remain overlooked;

I began a new diet of nuts and granola,
High-roughage salads, juice and diet cola,

And as they ate pastries, chocolates and crepes,
I stayed in my room doing Jane Fonda tapes,

I maintained my weight of two pounds and a half,
And tried not to notice when the bigger birds laughed;

But 'twas I who was laughing, under my breath,
As they chomped and they chewed, ever closer to death;

And sure enough when Black November rolled around,
I was the last turkey left in the entire compound;

So now I'm a pet in the farmer's wife's lap;
I haven't a worry, so I eat and I nap,

She held me today, while sewing and humming,
And smiled at me and said "Christmas is coming........"

The Albuquerque Rescue Mission Plans to Serve Thousands of Meals Thanksgiving Week

WHO: The Albuquerque Rescue Mission, serving the homeless and near homeless of Albuquerque for 57 years.

WHAT: Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless and near homeless men, women, and children of our community. We will provide a traditional Thanksgiving dinner of turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, vegetables and pumpkin pie to over 1000 people.

LOCATION: 525 2^nd Street SW, Albuquerque, NM

WHEN: Tuesday, November 22 beginning at 11:00.

WHY: Each day the Albuquerque Rescue Mission provides over 750 meals to homeless and near homeless men, women, and children. A meal is often the first contact we have with a person who needs help. It’s often a time when they realize that they can achieve a better life and commit to leaving street life through rehabilitation, education, and job training. At Thanksgiving we use the traditional meal to let the community know about the problems that homeless face each day.

Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa at the Santa Ana Pueblo

Silent auction begins at 5:30 p.m. and dinner with the Archbishop in attendance will be served at 7 p.m. Live auction of fine jewlery, vacation packages and beautifully decorated Christmas trees will begin around 8 p.m.

All proceeds go to support the many works of Catholic Charities here in New Mexico. For over 65 years, Catholic Charities has been fighting poverty and creating hope in our neighborhoods throughout the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. Through the incredible support from numerous private, federal, corporate and religious donors, Catholic Charities has provided direct or ancillary services for more than 12,000 men, women, and children throughout our community. The following indicators reflect how together, we are creating hope for those in need:

Center for Refugee Settlement and Support

· 590 individuals have received services in 2011.

· Individuals from 10 countries have been resettled in 2011. These countries include Afghanistan, Bhutan, Burma, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Kenya, Pakistan, Sierra Leone and Somalia.

· Over the past two quarters, 117 individuals have obtained work.

· 100% of the refugee teens in the youth program that receive tutoring services go on to graduate from high school.

Center for Immigration and Citizenship Legal Assistance

· 185 immigrant victims of domestic violence/sexual assault clients served in 2010 have successfully obtained legal employment.

· Immigrant victims from 55 countries of origin have been assisted since 2000.

· Individuals in 27 out of 33 counties throughout New Mexico have been assisted.

Center for Self-Sufficiency and Housing Assistance

· Kept more than 900 families off the streets and in their apartments in 2011.

· 89% of the individuals in the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-housing program become self-sufficient in 12 months.

· 200 individuals obtained jobs in 2011.

Center for Education Opportunity

· The average English language learner (ELL) proficiency is only 20%. Catholic Charities seeks to address this issue through its Children’s Learning Center and Adult Education programs.

· The Children’s Learning Center serves 60 children between 12 months and 5 years old in the Early Head Start program.

· 60 students graduated from the GED program this year with another 200 completing the program.

· More than 1000 individuals attend English as a Second Language (ESL) classes with 726 students completing the program.

· Classes are taught at 17 elementary schools and facilities around the city.

Center for Community Involvement

· 250 of volunteers working with us during 2011.

· Approximately 11,990 volunteer hours have been spent helping individuals.

· 743 rides given to seniors to medical appointments, banks, pharmacies and grocery stores; a total of 14,900 miles driven.

Toshyanna, Age: 14, Grade: 8^th

When you first meet Toshyanna she will engage you in conversation and share her big, beautiful smile. Toshyanna is fashion savvy and likes “matching” her outfits at all times. She enjoys making her own hair accessories and takes great pride in color-coordinating them with her latest fashions. As Toshyanna continues to grow as a young lady, her hopes include a desire to travel and see the world. She is willing to try new things but is admittedly hesitant about getting too close to the ocean.

An activity Toshyanna hopes to pursue is to take a hip-hop dance class as she enjoys dancing. She also enjoys listening to music and particularly likes singing along to Mariah Carey, Madonna and Reba McIntyre. Diverse in her entertainment choices, Toshyanna likes catching up on old sitcoms/movies such as The Nanny, Grease and Selena. In her free time, she also enjoys lounging on the couch and watching “chick-flicks” and “tear-jerker” movies.

Toshyanna befriends both adults and children the same. She knows no strangers and makes friends easily. It is hopeful that a family will help her in maintaining good, healthy relationships with her peers. Toshyanna had some setbacks in school this past year but is now on track academically. She tries to be organized and does not mind helping out around the house, although she does benefit from some reminders at times.

Toshyanna will flourish with parents who can help her follow through with tasks and how to problem- solve in positive ways. She states that she would enjoy a young and active two-parent family. She prefers to be an only child or the oldest of the children in the home. She looks forward to adoption and is searching for a family that will be accepting of her struggles as she transitions into her new family that awaits her with patience, love and understanding. Toshyanna simply wants a place to call home and also hopes that her adoptive family will help her to preserve birth family connections.

Thought maybe you could use one of these photos to show the awesome turnout on Sunday for the 7th Annual Pueblo of Pojoaque Boys & Girls Club Halloween/Christmas Toy Run in Santa Fe.

Fantastic weather for a fun time with lots of bikers taking part in a good cause. 430 motorcycles were counted!
