Toshyanna, Age: 14, Grade: 8^th

When you first meet Toshyanna she will engage you in conversation and share her big, beautiful smile. Toshyanna is fashion savvy and likes “matching” her outfits at all times. She enjoys making her own hair accessories and takes great pride in color-coordinating them with her latest fashions. As Toshyanna continues to grow as a young lady, her hopes include a desire to travel and see the world. She is willing to try new things but is admittedly hesitant about getting too close to the ocean.

An activity Toshyanna hopes to pursue is to take a hip-hop dance class as she enjoys dancing. She also enjoys listening to music and particularly likes singing along to Mariah Carey, Madonna and Reba McIntyre. Diverse in her entertainment choices, Toshyanna likes catching up on old sitcoms/movies such as The Nanny, Grease and Selena. In her free time, she also enjoys lounging on the couch and watching “chick-flicks” and “tear-jerker” movies.

Toshyanna befriends both adults and children the same. She knows no strangers and makes friends easily. It is hopeful that a family will help her in maintaining good, healthy relationships with her peers. Toshyanna had some setbacks in school this past year but is now on track academically. She tries to be organized and does not mind helping out around the house, although she does benefit from some reminders at times.

Toshyanna will flourish with parents who can help her follow through with tasks and how to problem- solve in positive ways. She states that she would enjoy a young and active two-parent family. She prefers to be an only child or the oldest of the children in the home. She looks forward to adoption and is searching for a family that will be accepting of her struggles as she transitions into her new family that awaits her with patience, love and understanding. Toshyanna simply wants a place to call home and also hopes that her adoptive family will help her to preserve birth family connections.
