Dog needs a ride home
Thursday, May 6, 2010
Morning Steve,
I was watching the news this morning, thought it was funny when you were sad comparing yourself to George Clooney. You have nothing to worry about, you are far more handsome than George. You not only have the looks but also you have a very good sense of humor, one of the best.
I tell my husband, I go to bed with Jay Leno and I wake up to Steve Stucker……… Some of your humor is pretty funny, it makes my day, keep up the good work.

COMMENT: Good morning, Steve Stucker (and Marla Tellez)! Congratulations on your 20th anniversary! Listening to you and Ms. Tellez is the best way to begin my morning before heading to work, and I feel impoverished if I don't hear your "...and may God bless." Thank you!

Herbfest at the Nature Center
On Saturday and Sunday May 8 and 9, the Friends of the Rio Grande Nature Center State Park present Herbfest, a springtime celebration of herbs, wildflowers, and native plants. 2901 Candelaria NW is Herbfest's bosque site; catch events in bloom from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Entrance is free and parking free for members of the Friends; parking for non-members is $3.
Scheduled are guided bird and nature walks, garden tours, rare and unusual plants for sale, a lineup of booths offering arts and crafts, live birds displayed by Wildlife Rescue, a silent auction, and activities for children. At hour intervals, different musical groups including Sabinal Sisters, Hands Five, Cheap Shots, Lady Fingers, and the Placitas Mountain Band will play instruments ranging from guitars, hammered dulcimers, and cellos, to autoharps and didgeridoos.
Herbfest's speaker program features Native American storyteller Ernest Dogwolf Lovato, master gardener Cheryl Rosel, and folk medicine chronicler Cheo Torres. Herbfest's raffle offers a pair of prizes: two tickets to any destination flown by Southwest Airlines and a balloon ride by a local aeronaut.
For more information, call Friends' volunteer coordinator Kim Fike.

Kids and Longhorns
I posted a picture to the KOB website yesterday of three boys riding their Longhorn steers! I don't know how y'all choose which pictures get to be aired or not, but it would be awesome if you could show their picture! These boys work so hard to saddle break and work with their steers to make sure they are ready to ride and safe to ride. We are trying to show them off to as many people as possible!
I sure would appreciate it if at all possible to give these boys a little bit of airtime! You are appreciated! Thank you for your consideration of this and may you have a blessed day!

"Found Ferret" Needs a Home!
Here is a photo of a ferret that I found a couple of weeks ago. One day late at night, I saw something odd in the camera trying to get in the front police department door. I proceeded to the front door and discovered it was a ferret. I retrieved the ferret, fed it and gave it water, it appeared to be starving. We have had it with our other three ferrets and they play all the time. The kids play with her and let her run around the house. she is a blast to play with.
We are looking for a home for her and are willing to adopt it out at no charge to a loving home.

COMMENT: Congrats on your 20 yrs. You are the best! Why are you not the chief weather man? What is freezing fog? In my 76 years many terminologies for the, weather world have broadened from hot, cold, windy, rain, snow , sunny , cloudy etc., confusing these old folks. I did understand " jet stream" was not the trail from jet planes. Thanks for being you! Veta

How long?
Hey Steve:
20 years? Couldn't be! Seems like only a couple of decades ago when you picked up the magic clicker. Congratulations! Only fair to let you know your closest friends are planning a huge blowout for your 50th anniversary. Forewarned is forearmed. And we'll give you the forearm any time hockey is played.
Thanks so much for starting our days in such an upbeat fashion for so many years.

Congrats!
Congrats Steve,
Twenty years with KOB, and what a job you have done! Here's to many
more! You are the one we call the REAL weatherman. In fact, I spent
several hours this weekend moving our indoor antenna and programing the
tv to bring in KOB. We lose the local channels on Direct-TV when our
pecan tree leafs out, so back to the old fashion way...but I didn't stop
until I get KOB.
We appreciate your love of our state and all the work you do for pets in
our state.
Watching that big cloud you warned us about as it moves south, Roswell
will get it before East Grand Plains, but bring on more moisture!
Again, congrats, job well done!
