Adios y Muy Buena Suerte

 Steve,

Kathy and I and our three dogs wake up to you on most mornings.  We truly enjoy your self-deprecating humor.

We have sold our business and are leaving the State.  Among the things we will miss the most about New Mexico is your program.  It gets us off to a great start.

Thank you for all of your community service, particularly your work for animals.

Our very best wishes to you and Marla,

John and Kathy Lattauzio

Thanks John!!   We are sorry to see you go, and wish you  many blessings!   ss

Late Weather Report: Procrastination.....

From: john f bartley
3-5-10, 7:30 a.m.  Dear Steve:  Been watching/listening to you since 5:15 a.m., just been "busy" up till now to respond!!  (phone, employees, cow that is in labor, etc.)
You were absolutley correct on that "tiny weather/snow cell" in the Pecos Wilderness, cause it has been off to our "west" ever since I got up!  We have "flurries blowing over" currently;  33 degrees, peak wind gust = 56 mph, cold!
(So your sophisticated weather equipment is working, and so is "my window"!!  Ha!!)

We haven't "seen the ground" since early January(pretty decent snow cover/snow pack)......total "official recorded snow" so far = 89 inches, however we still have 2 more months of winter, right?  I hope so!  That's it for now.......you been behavin'?

Take care and have a good weekend.......thanks, warm regards from the high country........

March Forth on March 4th

From: Lucia Cies, M.D.
You might be interested to know that March 4th was celebrated as a holiday at my high school in the 60's.  The students who studied ancient Greek learned the verb "exalamo"  which meant "to march forth".  So every year on March 4th the Greek class would go out for a meal at a Greek restaurant and celebrate Exalamo day.  So I suggest you have some Baklava today and celebrate ancient Greek!

I didn't get to go to the party bvecause I studied Latin and not Greek.  Must be sour grapes that I remember this trivia!

GREAT STORY!!    I just happen to be studying Greek myself right now, but haven't come across that term just yet!   God bless....ss

We Get Up with You!

NAME: Kristin Walls
CITY: Albuquerque
COMMENT: Good Morning Steve! I was hoping to catch you guys before you went off the air but by the time I figured out how to write to you, the Today Show already started, haha. I just wanted to tell you and Marla that I LOVE YOUR MORNING SHOW, you guys bring such wonderful character to an otherwise "messy chaotic" world in news, and I just wanted to let you know I appreciate your charisma and I find Marla so funny and cute. I'm 25, married, 2 wonderful kids. Kylie is almost 3 and my son Aiden is one. So I have to get up with you guys 5 am to make my husband breakfast before he splits out the door, and I watch your broadcast every morning 5am-7am. I thoroughly look forward to "waking up" every morning to watch and laugh with you. Thanks again for bringing a great start to my morning, tell Marla I said hi =) In Christ's Love, Kristin, Kylie, & Aiden

Kristin:   Thanks for your Very kind words of support. It means a lot to me to know we are part of your daily routine with the family. Please give the kids all a big hug from Uncle Steve.   May God bless.....ss

Sick Pup Need Foster Home ASAP!

Solo was born at WMR and has never had a home of his own.  He has underdeveloped lungs and consequently has severe breathing problems.  We are desperately seeking a foster home for this loveable pup while he is receiving special treatments.  It has to be a very quiet environment with no other pets, since he does want to play.  He has a wonderful personality and is so cute that you can't help but love him.  The foster family will need to be able to give him regular scheduled meds and we will transport him to various vet visits when necessary.  If you can't personally foster him, please pass the word around to everyone you know and maybe we can find him a great place to heal and become ready for adoption.  You may contact us at Watermelon Mountain Ranch at 505-771-0140.

Farm Animal Sanctuary Needs Food!

My good friend Sgt. Andrew Brandi is a Viet Nam veteran, who has been called back to "active duty" in the military. A few years ago, Sgt. Brandi wrote a terrific book titled "The Warriors Guide to Insanity". It is designed to help those returning from combat, to learn to deal with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. The book has had such an impact on our young troops, that military officials have Sgt. Brandi traveling the nation to speak with our soldiers. We are very proud of his success, and the difference he is making in SO many lives!
There is one problem however. For many years Sgt. Brandi has run a registered non profit Farm Animal Sanctuary, and paid for it out of his own pocket. The expenses he has incurred as a traveling volunteer for the military, have left him short of cash to pay for Food for the Animals this winter. If you would like to make a donation of cash, supplies or food, please contact them asap. Thanks very much!! ss

Farm Animal Sanctuary
We just Need Food: This is what we spend.

Timothy Hay ($11.00/bale), or Alfalfa/Grass Mix or Alfalfa (both $10.00/bale)...any donation would be great. We use 90 bales /month in the winter until about May.

Senior Equine ($19.00/50 lb. Bag) for our very old horses...this is a vitamin-grain formula. We use 8 bags/month all year long.

We usually buy all of our feed from San Marcos Feed (locally owned store) 3877 State Highway 14, south of Santa Fe and just south of the Turquoise Trail Elementary School...phone 505-471-9298. If easier, donations can be made there. If Feed is purchased somewhere else, I'll be glad to pick it up.

We are a 501c3 non-profit animal sanctuary...IRS Tax exemption letters are available for donations, if requested .

Our address is 312 Old Wind Mill Trail, in Cerrillos, on Rogersville Road...but it would be better to Please call us first...people get lost easy here, and the road is very bad in rain or snow.

Hope for Haiti's Children Musical Concert

Albuquerque, New Mexico - March 7th, 2010 – The Hope for Haiti’s Children Musical Concert, will take place at 6 PM, Sunday, March 7th, 2010, in the beautiful Kiva Auditorium at the Albuquerque Convention Center, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The concert combines performances by a number of national and international acclaimed artists.

Organizers hope the Hope for Haiti’s Children Concert event will continue to raise the much needed funding and awareness for the plight of the children in Haiti. Our goal goes beyond building a database of donor names. Rather, we seek to join forces with those who are willing to belong to UNICEF’s movement to save children’s lives, those who may not only give, but who are willing to spread the word, advocate and drive awareness within their own communities about the threats facing children in Haiti and around the world.

The children of Haiti need our help,” said Dr. Glenroy Heywood, MD, Event Host and Volunteer for the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. “I am simply doing my part as a volunteer and would like to ask others to join UNICEF in saving the lives of children in Haiti.”

To donate to the ongoing emergency relief efforts in Haiti and the Caribbean region, please visit: www.unicefusa.org/haitiquake or call 1-800-4UNICEF.
