Bible Bee update

Hi everyone,

It has been a long day here in D.C.   The opening ceremony began bright and early this morning at 7:45 am and we just got back to our room around 11:00 pm this evening.  Matthew competed in an oral round this morning (4 Bible memory verses and 4 Bible knowledge questions) and then took the written test right after lunch.  After a short break, he competed in another oral round this afternoon.  Both oral rounds went well with Matthew able to say all the verses and he also thought he did fairly well on the written test.  We found out late this evening, though, that his score wasn't high enough to place him in the top 20 and eligible to compete in the semifinals tomorrow morning.   While all of us would have loved to see him advance to the next level, we're so grateful for all he's learned in this competition and know that God's Word will continue to work in his life.  Thank you all so much for praying for Matthew as he competed.  Our whole family really appreciates your prayers and support.

Blessings,

The Evans Family

A New Viewer

Steve, I am Sarita Valdez and I live in Clovis NM. I have just recently started watching the morning news and all though I have watched it in the past I am more faithful to it now. I want you to know that I think you are very good at what you do and I see a real natural, family man loving everything he does with his work,  children,  wife,  animals and his community. And I love the way you end the news with "and may God bless". Thank you for including God in your day. Please give my regards to Marla as she does a fine job herself.      Thanks and may God bless.  Sarita E. Valdez

Rio Rancho Book Fair

The Rio Rancho Book Fair

the largest book event of the year

This Saturday, Nov 7

You are invited to join over 100 local authors and publishers at the Rio Rancho Book Fair on Saturday, November 7, 2009 from 10am to 4pm. The event will be at the Inn at Rio Rancho.

The Rio Rancho Observer says it is the "Biggest Book event in New Mexico this Year!" The Sunday Albuquerque Journal has a nice write-up as well. You don't want to miss this one!

The event is at the Inn at Rio Rancho, which is located at 1465 Rio Rancho Dr (just north of Sarah Road and just north of the Intel plant). A map is available HERE.

This is a great place to start your holiday buying season.

The book fair is being organized by the New Mexico Book Co-op and is held as part of the 20th anniversary celebrations for ReadWest, which is the premier literacy program in the Albuquerque metro area.

The books and crafts will appeal to both children and adults. Over 100 New Mexico authors & artists will participate in the event beginning at 10 AM with a story time for children conducted by New Mexico children's book authors. At 12 noon Don Bullis, author of New Mexico & Politicians of the Past, will be speaking and signing his books. At 2 PM Michael McGarrity, author of The Kevin Kerney Mysteries Series, will address the gathering and sign copies of his books. There will also be a silent auction through-out the day to benefit ReadWest. The book and crafts fair is free and open to the public, but a $2.00 donation at the door is encouraged.

The Book Fair is free, bring the family and tell your friends.  We will be at table #4.  Please drop by and visit.  Looking forward to seeing you there.
Peace,
Hank Bruce & Tomi Jill Folk

Support Our Bible Bee Contestant

Dear Viewers,

Many of you will remember NM's former Spelling Bee Champion Matthew Evans, who did extremely well in the nation wide competition for several years.  Matt aged out of the Spelling Bee, and is now off on a new adventure. He is one of the top 100 finalists for the very first National Bible Bee, to be held in Washington DC Nov. 4-6.

Matthew has been studying 6-7 hours a day since May.  He is memorizing 350 Bible verses and the answers to 200 questions.  To help him prepare, I quizzed him on camera recently, and you'll be able to see the videos on our morning show this week.

His trip will cost about $3,500.00, and he is funding it himself.  If you would like to donate any amount to help him with expenses,, just call 505 897 9152. or email primitiveatheart@comcast.net

Matthew will be posting updates on Twitter, and his username is "YESIAMAWORDNERD".

Go Matthew!  Make us Proud again.  Good luck and may God bless.....ss
