Subject: Thank you

Dear Steve, Here I am again... the guy with vato the chihuahua, toupee for squeeky, etc... I want to thank you for allowing me to e-mail you with pictures and letters  and most importantly for responding to my e-mail (always in such a positive manner). Just yesterday  a cnn report on the late Ed Kennedy was mentioning an idea of Kennedy's thet even in adversity and with problems facing a person, having a positive optimistic attitude is half the battle in overcoming the problem; this made me think about you and how you
always have this positive attitude (on your newscast at least). I move to having a Steve Stucker appreciation day!!!  ........ About your parade of pets and having your dogs with you on  the friday news cast and the way you do the baloon fiesta ... all these things are "classic Steve Stucker" ...Is in't it good to know that you are the original person (as far as I know and at 50 I've been watching TV news since Captain Billy and Heartsill Cribb (woops that's channel 13!!) !! When I and many of my friends and family see other stations attempt to" emulate" your costumes, parade of pets, holding squeeky, having toughy the weatherdog and especially next month's balloon fiesta attire (which we all love to see) it just isn't the same as yours!! This is so true that when we do see other similar broadcasts everybody always says "They're just copying Steve Stucker!!".... Anyway I know you are busy so I will chat with you later!!!!!!!!!! Have a good holiday ad good luck with the upcomming balloon fiestaI have a feeling that it will be much less "rainy " this year.................Your friend Ruben

Lightning "Flash" On-Air

Kathy Daly writes:
"I live in Carlsbad and this morning while you were talking about the
weather here, there was a flash of lightning outside and it lit up the
Carlsbad area on your screen. You even said "well, there's a flash".
Pretty cool!"

Hatch Chile Festival!

Hi Steve,

Just a quick note to say thanks for starting my day out each morning with a laugh every

morning and I do appreciate it very much. It sure makes 5.00a a bit easier to handle.

I also wanted to remind you about the Hatch Chile Festival this weekend. I don't know

if you ever have been there for it. It should be fun. Plus you can't beat the smell of all

that green chilé roasting.

Have a good day.

Lose a Feather legged fancy pigeon?

A rather tame fancy pigeon has been hanging around our house for the
past 2 weeks. It would appear that he got away from some fancier. We
would like to get the bird returned to the owner.

My daughter suggested that we send you a photo of the bird. This one
shows the green band on his right leg.

Thank you for anything you can do to get the bird home.
chuck.louise@yahoo.com.

I am Charles Kiger. We live in the northeast part of Santa Fe where the pigeon has adopted us.
People with information or knowledge of this bird may contact me at 505-984-1888

Acton Fire - Basset Rescue Network needs help

YOU MATTER! Please donate & forward the shelter plea to your friends, relatives, co-workers, neighbors & associates as appropriate.  Thank you very much.

Basset Rescue Network, www.bassetrescuenetwork.org, is located in Acton, Southern California. They need your help with funding due to the Station fire.

The shelters has 100 plus dogs  (basset hounds and mixes).
Kennel Manager: Dawn Smith.
They are a nonprofit 501c3 animal rescue group. Tax ID# 20-3737011

A good number of old, sick dogs, a full of life basset with a doggy wheelchair who will "run" to you for a belly rub:  they may not be able to handle the smoke, stress, that means vet bills will come high. Their daily routine has changed rapidly, as they can smell the unusual smoke of fire,  different activites from caretakers, and cannot go to the exercise yards  (due to smoke, soot, ashes..)

Rescuing Dogs from CA Fire Zones

There is a Senior Basset Rescue Group in Acton, CA where there are over 100 senior & special needs bassets who might have to be evacuated today. I'm including their info/donation pledge page here - if you can help, please do. If not, perhaps... remember our own Cerro Grande Fires in 2000 and how devastating they were and send some thoughts westward. Thanks. www.firstgiving.com/ActonFire_BassetRescueNetwork

Rain Jackpot Yesterday

Steve,
Up here in Placitas ~ east of the S-Curve~ we hit the Rain Jackpot last night!  My hubby (who's a fanatic about measuring accurately down to the one-hundredth of an inch) checked this AM and we got 1.07" of rain yesterday, all of which came after dinner last night.
We had thunder and some incredible lightening.  Our lights were flickering.  Our poor little Tibetan Spaniel, Chloe, took shelter under our daughter's bed while Ronin, our rescue dobie, was running in circles trying to figure out what was happening.  He had his bone in his mouth the entire time,  like the dog in that commercial, trying desperately  to find a safe place to hide it before the sky fell.   My gardens are loving this weather. So I am, too.
More, more!
